At the ams OSRAM booth at electronica, visitors will be able to find out more about state-of-the-art sensors and the power of light. Here is an overview of the ams OSRAM trade fair highlights:

Mobility of the future

Through integrated automotive solutions, ams OSRAM supports future-oriented mobility concepts — from dynamic lighting systems enhancing vehicle safety to advanced sensor solutions in the car interior. Deployed in dynamic LED headlamps, the EVIYOS® product family enables the high-resolution projection of safety-relevant symbols and homecoming welcome or leaving home scenarios directly onto the road ahead. 25,600 individually controllable pixels, automatically driven by a dedicated ASIC, make this possible. EVIYOS® thus contributes to improving the communication between the vehicle and its surrounding environment. Innovations in the field of sensor technology have also enabled groundbreaking progress: fitted with next-generation capacitive sensors, a vehicle door handle provides the proximity and touch/grip functionality of the ams OSRAM technology. In the field of interior lighting, ams OSRAM will showcase two new architecture solutions relying on the Open System Protocol (OSP): a STAR architecture based on the new Stand-Alone-Intelligent Driver (SAID) and a GATEWAY architecture enabling the real-time transmission of video images to 600 RGB-LED OSIRE® E3731i via ETHERNET/OSP gateways. Progress in the field of electromobility is also “driven by” ams OSRAM: precise zero-offset battery sensor solutions empower vehicle battery management systems to conduct essential current and voltage measurements.

Industrial infrastructure for new visions
State-of-the-art lighting and sensor technologies enhance comfort, safety and efficiency. The market-proven components ensure the fail-safe operation of critical infrastructure and offer integration and installation options in customer-specific designs.
In this field, ams OSRAM will present a new, intelligent project at electronica 2024: EVIYOS® Shape, a product based on EVIYOS® technology, is now being used for the first time in applications outside the automotive sector. EVIYOS® Shape is a cutting-edge, µLED-based light source designed for architainment, entertainment and machine vision applications, as well as for urban projection scenarios creating new visions for smart cities. As a first joint customer project, the ams OSRAM partner ELEPN showcased the brand-new MLP300 at the 25th China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE). This micro-LED smart projector was developed by ELEPN, a provider of micro projection modules, and will also be enriched with the groundbreaking LED innovation EVIYOS® Shape from ams OSRAM. The LED will be launched on the market at the beginning of 2025.

High-precision current and voltage measurement to increase the efficiency of battery solutions
With its high-precision current sensors AS8510 and AS8512, ams OSRAM makes it possible to design battery systems more efficiently and provide more accurate information about the residual battery capacity (state of charge). The measurement is conducted in combination with a shunt resistor and is used for a wide range of battery solutions in the industrial and automotive sectors. Thanks to the sensors' special measurement principle, ams OSRAM enables measurement without zero-point displacement, making it easier for customers to integrate the technology since compensation is no longer necessary. The demo setup at electronica illustrates how measurements are performed with the AS8510 and AS8512 sensors and visitors can see for themselves the added value that ams OSRAM thus contributes to battery systems.

Pioneering technologies for translating the language of the human body
ams OSRAM creates leading-edge technologies capable of decrypting the language of the human body and converting it into medically relevant information provided in a usable format. In close cooperation with industry-relevant customers, the company is developing miniaturized applications that provide the basis for hassle-free preventive care, precise medical diagnostics and intelligent healthcare systems. The comprehensive vital sign monitoring portfolio enables continuous heart rate, oxygen saturation and ECG measurements in modern smart watches and smart rings: around the clock and with the utmost precision. Temperature sensors with the highest accuracy on the market enable the precise measurement of both blood sugar and body core temperature values and also support athletes around the world in optimizing their training routines to overcome physical limits. The ultra compact NanEye image sensor and the corresponding evaluation platform provide the basis for more precise diagnoses and highly sophisticated endoscopic examination procedures.

Sustainable horticulture lighting and automation for industrial efficiency
Ultra-modern growth stimulation and precise condition monitoring: that is how ams OSRAM contributes to more sustainable, high-yield horticulture solutions. Regulatable light ensures optimal crop growth. Efficient horticulture LEDs, such as the new OSCONIQ® P 3737 high-power LED, impress with industry-leading performance, outstanding robustness and a long service life.
ams OSRAM‘s new proximity technology is revolutionizing the way we interact with our devices and buildings. The optical force sensors enable the seamless integration of switches and pushbuttons under any type of surface while offering complete freedom in how we design our own home. ams OSRAM’s in-house direct time-of-flight sensor series, such as the multi-zone dToF sensor TMF882X deliver outstanding performance in human presence detection with ultra-low-power operation to extend battery life, enhance precision and enable extended versatility innovations.
