ams sponsors the Innovations-Marathon of the Austrian Universities of Technology (TU Austria) with a challenge on health sensing
Premstaetten, Austria (August 28, 2020) -- ams (SIX: AMS), a leading worldwide supplier of high performance sensor solutions, is a returning sponsor of the TU Austria Innovations-Marathon, an innovation challenge which is part of the European Forum Alpbach and which is organized by the three technical universities in Austria (TU Austria): TU Wien, TU Graz and Montanuniversitaet Leoben. Ten teams of students from around the world solve challenging tasks, provided by enterprises, within 24 hours. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Innovations-Marathon takes place in a virtual setting.
The ams challenge topic this year reads ‘Sensors for a better life’ with the following question: ‘What would you need to sense for a better lifestyle?’
The students will receive guidance from an Innovation Coach and two experienced mentors working at ams: Alexander Hacker, who is the Manager of the Imagine New Sensors Application group and Massimo Mascotto, Marketing Manager in the Segment Health.
“We want to have many collaborations with universities and students to better understand their needs and ideas about sensing and sensors for tomorrow’s world. Innovation is a key factor for ams, and we want students to be part of our journey,” explains Alexander Hacker ams’ motive for participating in the TU Austria Innovations-Marathon again.
Following last year’s ams challenge at the TU Austria Innovations-Marathon on ‘Sensors and Social Media,’ ams Senior Vice President Thomas Riener continues: “Taking part in the TU Austria Innovations-Marathon is important to ams in two ways. It gives us the opportunity to be inspired by young people’s innovative ideas as well as the chance to receive feedback on the relevance of the use of our sensor solutions. This is what makes the TU Austria Innovations-Marathon special.”
ams is continuously driving and encouraging the exchange and communication with students and representatives of the next generation in order to keep pace with upcoming trends. The TU Austria Innovations-Marathon is another opportunity to drive new ideas for sensor applications the students will come up with and to give young people a chance to learn more about the latest sensing technologies – as well as considering the future of technologies for a better lifestyle.
