Osram expands its portfolio of LED lamps and offers largest selection
Osram is expanding its portfolio of LED lamps with a number of innovative products and thus giving its customers what is yet its largest selection. The current range encompasses some 60 different lamp types. Apart from retrofit lamps in classical shapes, the new LED portfolio also includes reflector lamps. “With our expanded LED portfolio, we have LED lamps to suit every purpose at a very good price/performance ratio. Customers save money and get good quality,” said Peter Dobiasch, head of the Lamps Business Unit at Osram.
The broad portfolio, which will be offered Europe-wide, makes it possible for consumers to use an LED lamp for virtually every application. That has a positive impact not only on their wallets, but also on total power consumption. For example, if every household in Germany were to replace just one 60-watt incandescent bulb with a corresponding LED lamp, the energy saved would be equivalent to that consumed by a major city, or about 1,920,000,000 KWh per year, which is over half a billion euros.
Osram divides the LED retrofit lamps in its portfolio into two segments: LED Superstar and LED Star. LED Superstar lamps offer particularly good light quality, are all dimmable with many customary dimmers, have a lamp life of up to 30,000 hours depending on lamp type, and are available in all classical shapes. In addition, every lamp is guaranteed for four years.
The second segment is the lower-priced LED Star line of lamps. They have a good price/performance ratio and can replace conventional 60-watt incandescent bulbs. With the LED Star Classic A 40, on the market since early June at a suggested retail price of under 10 euros, Osram is now progressing into the next output class of low-priced lamps. 40 and 60-watt replacement lamps are suitable, for instance, for basic lighting in the living room or dining room.
Apart from LED lamps in classical shapes, Osram also is expanding its portfolio of LED reflector lamps, which serve as replacements for classical high- and low-volt reflector bulbs. They are similarly divided into the premium Superstar and low-priced Star versions. Osram gives a three-year guarantee on all LED reflector lamps in the Star line and a four year guarantee on all Superstar lamps.
